9to5Mac is reporting that the next iPhone, the iPhone 4S as it’s being referred to, will feature the LED flash for the camera on the opposite side of the case. There have been reports from a small group of individuals experiencing camera problems due to the iPhone’s built-in flash, and this looks like a way to solve the issue. In a bid to win over more developers, Microsoft is offering up a new app migration tool to make it easier to port over iOS apps to the Windows Phone 7 platform. The new API Mapping Tool lets iOS coders take programming calls and translate them to the equivalent classes, methods, and notification events in Windows Phone 7.
The API Mapping Tool is available with plenty of documentation, videos, and other resources to help guide along developers. The API works more like a dictionary that allows developers to pick out bits of code to be translated. Broke? Think your iPhone is faster than Usain Bolt? T-Mobile’s so confident that the Samsung Galaxy S 4G is quicker than the iPhone that it’s offering $1,000 to anyone who can walk into one of its ten Seattle stores and prove otherwise. Your iPhone just has to win in two out of three throughput speed tests — using an app provided by T-Mobile – and you’ll walk away a cool $1,000 richer. The Galaxy S 4G is sure to be some stiff competition, though. After all, it does pack HSPA+ with support for T-Mobile’s 21Mbps network. The offer is from Friday, April 29th until Sunday, May 1st. Apple’s patent suit claims Samsung copied the “look and feel” of their user interface, including having a grid of colorful square icons with uniformly rounded corners, a bottom row “Springboard” of square icons, and an overall rectangular product shape that has four uniformly rounded corners. The TouchWiz UI resemblance to Apple’s iOS UI is certainly there, but it will still be one tough legal battle with Samsung fighting back that will bring plenty of analysis on its implications for Apple and the smartphone/tablet industry as a whole. But, let’s just imagine for fun if Samsung were to lose on the UI design battlefront…
The Apple vs. Samsung legal battle is an interesting one despite the myriad of lawsuits already in full swing amongst all the major manufacturers. Apple is Samsung’s number two largest client and fills up 4% of their annual revenue, whereas Samsung is also Apple’s major components supplier in semi-conductors, memory, and displays.

Gadget enthusiast blog M.I.C. Gadget has posted images of what it claims may be Apple’s next iPhone. The site itself seems skeptical as to the authenticity of the images — and we are as well — but they reveal what appears to be a thinner iPhone model with a touchscreen that is larger than the one found on the iPhone 4. It also appears as though the back of the device maybe be rounded like older iPhone models, but the images are very low-quality so it is difficult to say with any certainty. The images also feature the new proximity sensor seen on Apple’s upcoming white iPhone 4, but this has been pictured several times so it could certainly have been faked. Hit the break for a second image supposedly showing the face of the new iPhone next to an iPhone 4.
BGR’s T-Mobile iPhone prototype leak from earlier today is not simply an iPhone 4 packed with guts that support the T-Mobile 3G network radios, but it also carries the A5 processor from the next-generation iPhone.
The ‘N94′ prototype build (above) is the exact iPhone build that we found carries an A5 or ‘S5L8940′ processor a few months ago.
…and the iPhone 5 (N94AP), has the same S5L8940 processor as the iPad.
That makes last week’s story pretty convenient…
Remember that ‘iPhone 4S’ we told you about? That’s the prototype iPhone with an A5 processor that game developers are using to prepare their iPhone 5 apps. That sounds a lot like this phone.
The only question now is if that is a prototype ’4S’ or ’5′.
It appears that Apple’s sales call has shown the company to – surprise – be growing wildly, while the numbers on iPad sales specifically seem to be ever so slightly slipping. The sales call included the computer giant’s fiscal 2011 quarter ending on March 26th, 2011. During this quarter they’ve posted record second quarter revenue of $24.67 billion as well as record second quarter net profit of $5.00 billion, this translating to $6.40 per diluted share. And of course, it should be clear why sales for the original iPad “slipped” this past quarter: everyone knew, or at least suspected, that the iPad 2 was coming. Why purchase a tablet when you know a much better tablet is coming down the sled hill? Therefor watch, if you will, these numbers blast into outer space on next quarter’s call.
Oh Apple, you wily bunch, when will you ever stop growing?
Never, never ever, that’s what Steve Jobs essentially said on this call, “With quarterly revenue growth of 83 percent and profit growth of 95 percent, we’re firing on all cylinders. … We will continue to innovate on all fronts throughout the remainder of the year.” Unless the end of the year comes, that is. In reality, compared to the numbers last year with revenue at $13.50 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion, or $3.33 per diluted share, I and we are thinking their growth shows more than a little growth possibility.
Have a peek at the statistics below, and I’ll leave most of the conjecture up to Ben, but I’ve gotta say: no matter how you look at it, Apple continues to sell a whole barrel full of iProducts and will continue to do so until the end of time. They show no signs of letting up any time soon, and what we can all take away from this sales call is that the whole crew is definitely still on all four wheels.

Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
Record March Quarter Drives 83 Percent Revenue Growth, 95 Percent Profit Growth
Record iPhone Sales Grow 113 Percent
CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2011 second quarter ended March 26, 2011. The Company posted record second quarter revenue of $24.67 billion and record second quarter net profit of $5.99 billion, or $6.40 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $13.50 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion, or $3.33 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 41.4 percent compared to 41.7 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 59 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
Apple sold 3.76 million Macs during the quarter, a 28 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 18.65 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 113 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.02 million iPods during the quarter, representing a 17 percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company also sold 4.69 million iPads during the quarter.

The iPhone 5 rumors continue, with the latest leaks suggesting that Apple will begin production of the fifth-generation smartphone in July this year. Reuter‘s trio of anonymous sources – all supposedly “familiar with the matter” – claim the Apple iPhone 5 will begin shipping in September, as well as throwing out a few tidbits about the specifications.
The new iOS handset, they reckon, will “look largely similar” to the existing iPhone 4, rather than mark a significant change in design direction. However it will have a faster processor.
That’s presumably the dual-core 1GHz Apple A5 chip found inside the iPad 2, which we’ve expected to form the heart of the iPhone 5 for some time now. As for the similar aesthetic, last we heard Apple was looking at replacing the iPhone 4′s glass back panel with a more durable metal panel.
