White iPhone 4 lands at Best Buy on April 27th

Our sources in Europe have already told us that the white iPhone 4 is launching on Wednesday, April 27, in the Netherlands at least, and now other sources are pointing to a launch on that same day in the United States. A source at Best Buy sent us the above inventory screenshot and this screenshot details the April 27th launch date for the product. That particular screenshot is for the AT&T, GSM model of the white iPhone 4, but our connects at Verizon told us there is a CDMA version coming, too. We suppose that the Verizon version is launching that same day in the United States.

Additionally, we have been told that both 16 GB and 32 GB white units have already been shipped to Best Buy locations across the United States, so those models should arrive by Monday or Tuesday ahead of the Wednesday launch. White iPhone 4s have already arrived at phone retailers in the Netherlands and at Vodafone in the UK. Most stores have about ten 16 GB units on order for launch day (screenshot after the break), but there could be more coming, and inventory numbers for the 32 GB units are unconfirmed. If the white iPhone 4 launch in Europe is any indication, there might be a shortage of 32 GB units in the U.S. That is unconfirmed, though. As soon we hear more, you’ll be first to know.

White iPhone 4 to Launch on April 26th?

Last week, Apple confirmed rumors that the White iPhone 4 would finally be launching soon. Multiple sources pegged the release by the end of April, and iPhoneItalia now reports that April 26th will be the day.

The white iPhone 4 was first announced alongside the black model when the iPhone 4 was first introduced. Production issues with the white paint, however, have since held up its release.

Report: Apple Cracking Down on iPhone 5 Supply Chain Leaks

20110410-072742.jpg

Apple is playing the role of plumber in the overseas supply chain, eager to patch up any leaks to an entirely new extent. That’s according to a new report that says Apple is displeased with the flurry of iPhone 5 rumors that have surfaced in recent weeks, not the least of which is speculation that the iPhone 5 may not be released until fall of 2011.

As we all know, Apple is certainly no stranger to embracing secrecy. But if analyst Brian White with Ticonderoga Securities is accurate in his claims released to investors Friday, Apple is putting a higher premium than ever on secrecy in the overseas supply chain.

“Apple is keeping its iPhone 5 cards extra close to the vest on this launch to avoid a falloff in iPhone 4 demand ahead of a refresh, especially given the February launch of the CDMA iPhone 4 with Verizon,” writes White, who still believes that it’s in the realm of possibility that the iPhone 5 will still launch this summer – most likely late June or early July.

“Although we do not have a smoking gun that definitively rules out a delayed autumn unveiling or one that supports a launch this summer, there is a pattern of activity in motion with the supply chain that makes us question a delayed launch,” White revealed, suggesting that the anticipated production slowdown related to the Japanese earthquake may ultimately help Apple. Specifically, White suggests, overseas suppliers will “rush to support Apple at the expense of competitors,” a likely outcome, particularly in the wake of Apple’s ramped up spending with major overseas component suppliers.

For now, Apple has given no clues whatsoever indicating the company’s plans for the iPhone 5. Apple’s recent press release formally announcing June’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC), a place known for past iPhone model introductions, makes no mention of anything but software and operating systems. “At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” the release stated.

Where Can I buy WWDC 2011 tickets?

Well, if you weren’t quick enough to get a ticket to this year’s WWDC, this just might … make you angry. A developer is selling an unactivated extra ticket on eBay for the Buy It Now price of US$3,500. That’s $1,900 more than the original $1,599 cost. The eBay seller says the ticket is one he bought for a colleague who can’t make it this year. It’s great that he wants to give another dev who missed out on a ticket the chance of going, but trying to make a buck off it? Come on. [We thought about putting in a link to the auction itself, but decided that was just bad form. -Ed]

Now before anyone gets too hopeful (or angry), I’m certain that Apple is going to put an end to this auction quicker than it can pull an app from the App Store. The last thing Apple wants to have happen is a string of bogus developers in future years buying up WWDC tickets and then scalping them for a profit. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some more WWDC tickets show up on Craigslist or eBay before the June 6 conference begins.

New Bootrom Exploit to Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3

Comex, the well-know iPhone hacker, and the guy behind Spirit and JailbreakMe, has unveiled some good news for iPad 2 users, as we reported you earlier that Comex has successfully jailbroke iPad 2 running iOS 4.3 with his upcoming userland jailbreak, today he just confirmed that there’s new bootom exploit has been discovered by someone to jailbreak iPad 2 running iOS 4.3.

Someone asking Comex: is your new iPad 2 exploit in the boot rom? Or a userland exploit? Kinda curious. I am one of the lucky ones who landed one day one.
Comex replying: Userland, but I hear someone has a bootrom vulnerability that they might have exploited.

Comex didn’t announce about the hacker who have this bootrom exploit. On the other hand you have to know that also Stefan Essar (iPhone hacker) also has confirmed that he will release his untethered iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 4.3 by the next weekend.

It’s highly expected that hacker behind this exploit will keep his bootrom exploit until iPhone 5 releases to make it effective for the longest period as much as they can, as this kind of exploits is only patched by a hardware upgrade. But the userland exploit is a software exploit which can be patched on any iOS update.

Will ultrasn0w fixer work on iPhone 4 ?

JailbreakMe 3.0 on its way to jailbreak iOS 4.3!

After showing a demo video and screenshot of successfully jailbroken iPad 2 by the famous iPhone developer Comex, here we have some more news. The next jailbreak could be packaged in a JailbreakMe like web-based app.

GUnitJC: @comex does this mean jailbreakme 3.0 is out now since you just had jailbroken the new iPad 2?

Comex: @GUnitJC No, it will take some work to package it into a jailbreak. Same deal as i0n1c.

As most of you know, there is a new vulnerability in Safari which allows some hackers to hack it at Pwn2Own contest which may allow the execution of JailbreakMe again. Everyone likes this tool because it’s very easy, fast and can be done without connecting your device into your PC or Mac. This new tool may jailbreak iPad 2 too.

There’s no ETA yet but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear something new!

Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3 possible with SHAtter exploit?

Few hours ago, after the announcement of iPad 2 and its specs, iPhone hacker p0sixninja of Chronic Dev Team posted on his Twitter that they’ll focus on the jailbreak of the new iPad 2 oniOS 4.3 once they get it.

We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that at least SHAtter is still in iPad2

For those who don’t know, SHAtter is an exploit found in October 2010. The team wanted to release it to jailbreak iOS 4.1 but Geohot came with Limera1n exploit and suggested to save the exploit for newer devices. So there’s a big chance that it works on iPad 2. Let’s wait and see!
