iPhone 5 Leak from China?

With evidence mounting that the iPhone 5 is coming in the fall, here is some more fuel for the fire. A new Chinese case design found on Alibaba.com, which is a business-to-business trading site for Chinese manufacturers and suppliers, claiming to be for the iPhone 5G. It is worth taking a look at as Chinese manufacturers often get design specs before the official launch.

The picture surfaced on GadgetsDNA, and shows two holes in the back of the case, one for the camera and one for…we’re not sure. Also, it seems to show a display that extends to the edge of the case with a thinner bezel. There has been evidence that has surfaced that Apple is planning a significant reworking of the iPhone with the iPhone 5, and other evidence that seems to indicate a more moderate update, maybe an iPhone 4S.

The Guinness World Records is at it again, dealing out awards for various unusual feats. No category or industry sector is left untouched, with one of the previous awards going to Kinect as the fastest selling consumer electronics device. Today, new awards go out to Apple’s iPhone 4, the Apple App Store, and even Angry Birds.

The iPhone 4 has been named as the fastest-selling portable gaming system, after an estimated 1.5 million iPhone 4 handsets were sold on the first day of release back on June 24, 2010. In comparison, the PSP only sol 200,000 units on its launch date in 2005, and the DS took two weeks to move 500,000 units after its launch in 2004. However, neither of those devices functioned also as a smartphone, those this award’s a bit of a stretch.

Android Market filters mature content but has one fatal flaw

Among the many, many, changes to the Android Market announced in recent weeks, Android users can now personalize their Market by filtering out apps marked as mature. Turning on app ratings will then block Android apps that have a maturity rating higher than the setting that a user chooses (Everyone, Low, Medium, or High).

Android Market filtering is great, but the problem is that it relies on developers to be honest and accurately rate their apps. Considering how many developers cheat search results by putting in keywords that have absolutely nothing to do with their app, trusting devs to be honest seems silly. That’s as crazy as letting the banking industry police itself.

I grow tired of seeing “Sexy Girl” wallpaper apps every time I search for new Android apps, so I set my Android Market to only show apps available to “Everyone.” But instead of blocking all of the crappy sexy apps, Everyone merely dropped the number of those apps from to 1,164 to 182. It’s good to see a decline that steep, but 182 is still a large number of offensive apps trickling into what should be a mature-free browsing experience.

They’ve got a big fat build by the name of Mecha GINGERBREAD S Verizon WWE 2.01.605.0_ Radio_0.01.69.0501r_ _NV_8K_1.41_ 9K_1.64_test_190987.zip – all that make sense to you? It doesn’t have to! All you need to know is that Gingerbread is more than likely on its way to Verizon’s HTC ThunderBolt, and by the looks of it, it’s coming soon!

Before we continue I’ve of course got to warn you that ROMs in test stages such as this are often beyond buggy to the point where should you use them you really ought to prepare yourself for something rather broken. Be sure to back up your current build if you plan on working with this one,

Verizon to activate new 4G LTE markets on May 19th

Verizon Wireless announced on Monday that it will activate its blazing fast 4G LTE service in Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Gainesville Florida; Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama; Fayetteville-Lumberton, North Carolina, and in and around Philadelphia on May 19th. Samsung Exhibit 4G hits T-Mobile June 8

We first heard about the Samsung Exhibit 4G a few weeks ago and it looks like we’ll be seeing the mid-range offering hitting T-Mobile shelves on June 8. Dealer price is set at $325, but you’ll be paying less (and note the $50 rebate).

The Exhibit 4G features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 3MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera and is also HSPA+ capable; it will be able to reach speeds exceeding 21mbps.

iPhone 5 Launches November 21st, Says UK Phone Retailer

Conventional wisdom has held that the next iPhone won’t ship until September, at Apple’s annual iPod event. That’s three months later than Apple’s historic iPhone release cycles would suggest.

If the idea of waiting an extra three months for your next phone gets your blood boiling, though, it might get even worse: one report is now suggesting that the next iPhone won’t ship until November 21st.

iPad 2 Jailbreak May not be a Free Jailbreak

Here’s some new updated regarding iPad 2 jailbreak, i0n1c, the guy behind iOS 4.3.3 / 4.3.2 / 4.3.1 untethered jailbreak flavor for all iOS devices except iPad 2, is working now independently on iPad 2 jailbreak. i0n1c has mentioned via his Twitter that he will no longer give exploits for free.

What that mean ? i0n1c will not release iPad 2 jailbreak for free, this is the first time we see one of iOS devices hackers who sells his jailbreak, we only heard about donations. But to be fair enough, no one can deny i0n1c‘s decision, as this kind of jobs are time and effort consuming. So that no one can blame him. But the point is how much iPad 2 jailbreak cost?

Veeence, who is a good source of jailbreak news, has confirmed the same and mentioned that iPad 2 jailbreak’s codename is Elevator, so that upcoming iPad 2 jailbreak may be called Elevator (not confirmed).

Google Announces Chromebook: MacBook Air Alternative?

Google is aiming for the low end user by stripping a laptop down to its bare essentials, adding built-in world mode 3G wireless connectivity and calling it Chromebook.

Specifications

Chromebook with the 3G option will have 100MB free data per month from Verizon Wireless and a boot time of 8 seconds. It will support “the latest web standards and Adobe Flash,” there is no hard drive, or any local storage for that matter, but there is a 4-in-1 memory card reader. The ultra-cheap notebook will run Chrome OS – essentially a browser-based operating system where all of your data and applications are stored in the cloud. The login credentials of the notebook are simply your Google account details and Chrome OS will keep your data synchronized to the cloud so that you can simply login to any other Chromebook and have the exact same experience. Chrome OS will update automatically, just the same as the Chrome browser does so there won’t be anything to patch, download, or otherwise worry about updating. The 12″ Samsung model (pictured) is the sleeker design of the two – Acer is making one as well – and is not too much heavier than an 11″ MacBook Air with a significantly longer 8.5 hours of battery life.

It’s a pretty safe bet these are the same notebooks that Google will be offering to students for the dirt cheap price of $20 per month, including “hardware and online services.”

Acer and Samsung will each have a Chromebook available from June 15th at Best Buy and Amazon’s Chromebook Store.

What do you think? Would you ditch your main machine in favor of a web-based, data in the cloud, $20 a month Chromebook? This certainly seems attractive as a second machine, but Google will have to pry my 11″ MacBook Air from my cold, dead hands. The most exciting thing about this is how it will stir up the market, including Apple to boost the adoption of cloud services and 3G/4G wireless connectivity built in to all devices.
